Well, she’s not from a modern stone-aged family….but Florence Fang, 84, does like the Flintstones and feels they are a representation of what America is all about. Unfortunately, Hillsborough, CA, doesn’t feel the same. Fang is the creator of the iconic establishment just outside San Francisco, CA, depicting characters and decor from the 1960’s animated TV show The Flintstones.
She is in a heated battle with the city of Hillsborough who feels the establishment is a public nuisance and an eyesore even though the house was built by William Nicholson in 1976. The township believes rules are in place for the benefit of neighbors so there is no disagreement with how each neighbor maintains their property.
The city has imposed several work-stop orders based on public safety codes and permitting to challenge Fang in court. She has filed a counter lawsuit to challenge the city on her right to Free Speech.
Who will prevail? ….we’ll have to wait and see.
