My interests in traveling throughout North America once I retire is foremost on my mind.  I recently came across a video called Idaho From Above on Amazon Prime.  This documentary shows an aerial view of the majestic landscape that encompasses more wilderness than any other state aside from Alaska.

The Salmon River runs through Idaho with salmon swimming 900 miles just to spawn. The lakes, rivers and snow-topped mountain peaks reminds the viewer that there is more to life than just suburban and city life.   Cascade Lake, 2 hours north of Boise, is one of the largest bodies of water with beaches and campgrounds.

Southern Idaho is a dessert environment with the Bruno River cutting through 1200 feet of volcanic rock featuring a canyon as majestic as the Grand Canyon.   The Snake River Canyon is littered with boulders strewn about by The Great Bonneville Flood.  North along the Snake River, an incredible waterfall known as the Shoshone Waterfalls provides beautiful view of the power of water.

The South Fork on the Snake River is one of the most productive trout streams with more than 5,000 fish per mile.  Henry’s Fork is world renowned for fly fishing and Upper Mesa Falls has drop of 10 stories.

To the west on the Wyoming border lies the 40 mile Teton Range, the youngest of the Rocky Mountain ranges with Grand Teton reaching almost 14,000 feet in height.

North Idaho is a land of lakes.  Lake Coeur d’Alene is large tourist destination lake about 25 miles east of Spokane, WA.  Hell’s Canyon is a 10-mile gorge being the deepest in all of North America.
